Program Description

The post-baccalaureate certificate program in Technology Enhanced Learning: Multimedia Design and Development prepares students to use technology (computers and the Internet) to develop instructional materials for use in a wide range of educational and training contexts. The program is designed for K-12 teachers, higher education instructors, corporate trainers, and other professionals interested in using technology to support instruction.

The program allows working professionals from a variety of disciplines to formalize their training in program evaluation by earning a certificate in this area. The program is offered by the Department of Curriculum and Instruction (C&I) in the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD).

Program Curriculum

Total Program - 12 graduate credits

  • CI 5362 - Introduction to Educational Multimedia (3 cr)
  • CI 5363 - Introduction to Multimedia Development (3 cr)
  • CI 5336 - Planning for Multimedia Design and Development (3 cr)
  • CI 5367 - Interactive Multimedia Instruction (3 cr)

Please note: Transfer credits may not be applied to this certificate program.

Admission Requirements

Program admission is available to graduate-level students only; a completed bachelor’s degree is required. Admission is open to degree-seeking or non-degree-seeking students. Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or be currently enrolled in a University of Minnesota graduate-level degree program
  • Have a 2.80 minimum grade point average (GPA)
