Partnerships

The Rochester Higher Education Development Committee delivered a report to the Legislature and the Governor in January of 2006. The committee’s recommendation was to establish "a world class higher education institution that leverages the University of Minnesota’s research capability, in partnership with IBM, Mayo Clinic and other industry leaders to build signature academic and research programs that complement southeast Minnesota’s existing leadership roles in health sciences, biosciences, engineering and technology." UMR has expanded its partnerships beyond the academic programs to working hand-in-hand with local establishments to provide student housing, recreation, and entertainment as well.
