The University of Minnesota Rochester is pursuing innovative research agendas through its Center for Learning Innovation (CLI) and its Biomedical Informatics and Computational Biology (BICB) Program. CLI promotes a learner-centered, technology-enhanced, competency-based, and community-integrated learning environment in which ongoing assessment will guide and monitor student achievement of measurable objectives and will be the basis for data-driven research on learning. The Center will serve as a laboratory for learning and through its research lead the development of an integrated curriculum for a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences that prepares graduates for a wide variety of health careers, including health professions, graduate studies in health related programs, and careers in the biosciences industry. Additional information is available on the CLI webpage.
BICB’s mission is to conduct research and provide education in the broad areas of biomedical informatics and computational biology through the establishment of academic and research programs. All BICB academic and research programs are collaborations among the University of Minnesota Rochester (UMR), the University of Minnesota Twin Cities (UMTC), the Mayo Clinic, IBM, and the Hormel Institute to advance informatics and support a strong life science industry in Minnesota. Additional information is available on the BICB webpages.
