Computer Information/E-Mail & Internet Access
University-assigned student e-mail accounts are the University's
official means of communication with all students.
Initiate your U of M e-mail/internet account at http://www.mail.umn.edu.
The information requested on that page is used to verify your identity
and student eligibility for an Internet account (social security
number, student ID number, and birth date).
Computers are available for use in the Information Commons.
Note: You are responsible for all information sent to you
via your University-assigned e-mail account. If you choose
to forward your University e-mail account, you are still responsible
for all the information, including all attachments, sent to
your University e-mail account.
The e-mail consultants at 612-301-4357 can provide general
assistance in activating and using e-mail and other Internet
software. For up-to-date information about Helpline hours
and other e-mail and internet related questions, you can browse
the web at http://www.umn.edu/adcs.

Discounted Computer Software
U of M Microsoft Campus Agreement Software Program for Students
The University of Minnesota has paid for one Microsoft Office and one Windows license per student. Students must be currently enrolled at the U of M in at least one credit course. All software orders must be placed through the Microsoft student online order form, which verifies student enrollment and automatically charges your U of M student account. Students that select the media option pay for the cost of the CD set, which is less than $8. Software cannot be returned if it has been opened.
UMR students can pick up software in Rochester. Follow the directions on the online order form and indicate any pickup location. Once you have placed the order, e-mail jewel006@umn.edu to arrange your software pick up in Student Services.
