Kathleen A. Olson, M.S.
Family Relations Specialist and Professor


Kathleen Olson is an educator with regional and statewide responsibilities in the family relations area of expertise, with a focus on parenting education. Specialists serve as adult educator and teacher/trainer of parenting education professionals and human service professionals.

Research:

  • Co-author of curriculum (as part of a team): Positive Parenting I, II, and Teen, as well as numerous related products, which is research based
  • Project manager and Director of K.I.D.S.: Handle With Care, a county-wide project to discourage physical punishment of children through parent education and youth relationship skills, which included a research component and 3 part telephone survey
  • Thesis on Placement and Use of the Microwave Oven in the Kitchen
  • Research review of Families with Adolescents with current research based educational resources in normative adolescent development and what it means for the parent-adolescent relationship
