Students will not only receive feedback from the instructors, but they will also learn to become a constructive editor themselves by participating in peer review sessions. Students in grades 10-12 will also get practice and feedback on writing their college admission essays! Continuing Education and Professional Development (CEPD) programming at the University of Minnesota Rochester (UMR) is focused on accelerating the knowledge and skills of professionals in a variety of fields. Programming is enhanced by extending University of Minnesota system resources to Southeastern Minnesota. Through our Outreach offerings, we hope to stimulate the minds of lifelong learners while they explore new topics and new ideas.
The majority of CEPD programs offered are designed to cover the topic and material for a specific audience. Continuing Education and Professional Development staff can work with businesses and organizations to design programs to meet special needs. Working through the College of Continuing Education, UMR can also award CEU credits.
Over the past year through Outreach and CEPD Offerings, UMR has served more than 5,000 people and presented more than 75 programs in the areas of: business, technology, social work, aging & wellness, politics/government, medicine, law, human resources, transportation, environment, public health, and alternative energy sources.
UMR also has corporate training and meeting space available at affordable prices. There is high speed wireless internet capability throughout the entire building and most rooms are equipped with a built-in LCD projector, computer, VCR/DVD player, and document camera. ITV Video Conferencing is also available in some rooms, at an additional cost. For more information, please contact Teresa Puetz.
